Orchestras, trailers and The Journey Down Part 3!

Hello all,

This month seems to be mostly about exciting library music projects!

I’ve just finished final tweaks on some tracks for “Rise”, an album of hyper-modern trailer music for Cavendish, which we recorded last month in Budapest. It sounds fantastic (think Johan Johansson meets Harry Gregson-Williams but with extra trailer percussion!) and should be released very soon.

Then in a couple of weeks I’m off to record at the amazing Synchron Stage studio in Vienna for the first time with EMI for an album currently titled Emotional Chamber Trailers, inspired by the work of Philip Glass and Max Richter amongst others.

Synchron Stage, Vienna

The week after that it’s a lovely EMI Ambient Neo-Classical album with a little Scandinavian minimalism influence, which we’re recording in London’s own Air-Edel studio, with the awesome Sacconi Quartet (http://sacconi.com) who I’m really looking forward to working with for the first time.

Then a few days after that it’s off to Budapest again with Cavendish for some more orchestral stuff loosely inspired by Jeff Beal (House of Cards), Jeff Russo (Fargo) and more. Fun times!!

In TV world, since the last update I worked on The Baby Boomers Guide To Growing Old (Avalon, More4) featuring a magnificent cast of vintage characters, including Henry Blofeld, Amanda Barrie, Johnny Ball, John Prescott, Esther Ranthzen and Su Pollard.

And in trailer-land, I’ve been working closely with an LA-based trailer house, pitching for something huuuuuuuuuuge, which I’m still waiting to hear about. Odds are I won’t get it, but if I do I’ll be shouting about it here!!

And not forgetting games – the score for The Journey Down Part 3 is finished and delivered and the game is released on September 24th. It’s full of big tunes, fantastic musicians and fun, and the soundtrack album will be available soon at all the usual digital outlets.

Delighted to hear that Treason has been perfoming very strongly on Netflix - we were number 1 on seven countries and top 10 in eighty eight countries! Very proud to be involved with a fantastic team on this show.

Working with Graham is such a thrill - he's a genuine authentic songwriting legend, and there's not many of them about. So many hits and great collaborations, including the Yardbirds, the Hollies, Herman's Hermits as well as 10cc of course. The week before our session he'd written a song with Brian May about the James Webb Space Telescope! We got "the team back together" at Hoxa HQ again - myself on piano/MD, Chris Hill on bass and Ralph Salmins on drums and recorded a couple of Graham's great new songs. Always a joy to work with Graham and I hope we get to do it again soon.
